Looking for a Denver-area property?

Help us decide what to cover first.

The public database is being built now. Requesting a property helps us prioritize early coverage.

Privacy protected

Public profiles are designed to exclude names, unit numbers, and private evidence.

Evidence-aware

Work orders and repair records may be reviewed privately to improve credibility.

Scores are not for sale

Property owners and vendors will not be able to purchase a better public score.

The missing layer

Apartment reviews mix everything together.

Parking, neighbors, amenities, leasing staff, noise, rent increases, and maintenance all get collapsed into one star rating. That makes a basic question hard to answer: Does this property actually handle repairs well?

Google reviews tell you what residents thought. HowTheyFix is designed to show what happened after the work order was submitted.
General property review

“Nice pool, thin walls, office was friendly, parking was rough.”

Useful context—but not enough to understand maintenance response, repair quality, or whether problems return.

Simple by design

How HowTheyFix works

The first version is focused on collecting trustworthy maintenance experiences and turning them into useful property-level information.

01

Renters document what happened

Share the type of issue, response time, communication, resolution, and whether the repair actually lasted.

02

HowTheyFix reviews and protects

Identity and optional supporting records may be reviewed privately while public reporting stays anonymous and focused on the reported maintenance outcome.

03

Future renters see meaningful patterns

Once enough credible experiences exist, profiles can show repair timelines, category scores, recurrence, and sample size.

Our mission

Make rental maintenance transparent before a renter signs a lease.

By turning verified resident experiences into clear repair timelines and property-level insights, HowTheyFix helps renters make informed decisions while giving responsible property teams the opportunity to improve and stand out.

More than a star rating

A maintenance record people can actually use.

HowTheyFix is being designed around the information renters care about before committing to a lease.

  • Response and resolution timelines
  • Communication and professionalism
  • First-time-fix performance
  • Whether the problem returned later
  • Verification level, review count, and recency

Denver first

Building property by property—not launching an empty national directory.

HowTheyFix is beginning with concentrated coverage across Denver, Broomfield, and surrounding communities. Dense local information is more useful than thousands of blank pages spread across the country.

Initial Denver beta goal

Credible maintenance experiences across approximately 40 Denver-area properties.

The listing showed the amenities. It did not show what would happen when the air conditioning failed.

Why we started

A renter problem hiding in plain sight.

After paying nearly $2,800 per month in rent and experiencing an extended air-conditioning failure, we realized apartment hunters had no reliable way to evaluate maintenance performance before signing a lease.

General reviews contained scattered complaints, but there was no independent place focused specifically on how long repairs take, how management communicates, whether the issue is actually resolved, and whether the repair lasts.

That experience became the starting point for HowTheyFix.

For property and ownership teams

Independent renter data can become better maintenance intelligence.

HowTheyFix is exploring how verified resident-maintenance experiences can help operators understand recurring repair problems, communication gaps, first-time-fix performance, and differences across properties.

Questions

What to know during the beta

Does HowTheyFix perform repairs?

No. HowTheyFix is an independent renter-information and property-intelligence platform. We do not dispatch technicians, sell repair services, or manage work orders.

Is HowTheyFix live nationwide?

No. HowTheyFix is currently building a Denver-area beta. The goal is useful local density before broader expansion.

Will my name or unit number appear publicly?

The product is being designed so public maintenance records do not display a renter’s legal name, unit number, email address, phone number, or private supporting evidence.

Can a property company pay to improve its score?

No. Public ratings are intended to remain independent. Future paid operator products would focus on analytics, benchmarking, and improvement—not score manipulation.

What happens after I submit an experience?

During the beta, the founders may follow up to clarify details, review optional supporting evidence, and ask whether the repair remained fixed. Submissions are not automatically published.

Help build the missing maintenance history

Help make rental maintenance transparent.

A great repair experience matters. A bad one matters too. Both can help future renters make a more informed decision.
